SPRING 2024 UPDATE
As I sit in my office looking out my window at the new 6″ of snow we just got (on the 2nd official day of Spring 2024, YUCK) I cant help but laugh. In a year where Winter never truly arrived, it’s an unwelcomed surprise. The snow skiers may like it but the boaters, not so much.
2023 was an odd year in the boat business, full of surprises both good and not so good. Sales of new and preowned boats were soft, not terrible, but definitely not what I expected. The weather decided to be rainy and cool on the weekends but OK throughout the week limiting the boating time lots of you could enjoy. As has happened before, my Crystal Ball let me down and I overstocked us with new boats. While that isn’t really good for the Marina, it it’s GREAT for my future boat buyers. Softer sales (Nationwide, not just here), have created an overstocked market forcing all of our Manufacturers to offer significant incentives for the first time in years, not only on the remaining 2023’s but the new 2024’s as well. Additionally, it has forced Marina owners (like me) to offer larger than normal discounts, so between Manufacturers incentives and a more competitive market, boat prices have become more affordable (Thankfully). February’s Syracuse Boat Show was very good to us generating above expected sales of our 2023/2024 inventory, but we still have a healthy supply of new Benningtons, Crestliners, Four Winns and Wellcrafts, all with Incentive $ and a motivated seller (Again Me). While it’s still very early in the spring, and the sign outside may say closed (By the way, we are officially reopening April 8th), I can assure you we are around and ready to help.
